Octagon Technology Staffing is in search of a Windows Migrations Engineer. The ideal candidate applies Windows Operating System technical knowledge to solve complex business requirements and is regarded as a subject matter expert. Uses consulting skills including, but not limited to understanding business needs, developing technical solutions, migration plans and working with multiple teams to accomplish project deliverables. Capable of consulting, designing, testing, implementing, managing capability requirements into a new or existing infrastructure. Able to integrate custom software components into the environment and provide third level production infrastructure support.
•Responsible for preparing and planning of server migrations
•Responsible for providing third level production support during a migration phase for other involved teams
•Responsible for producing part or all of the technical solution in accordance with an agreed technical design
•Responsible to make sure that the project deliverable is completed accurately and on time
•Responsible for escalating issues, problems, risks, and constraints to the appropriate parties for clarification and resolution
•Responsible for design, development, implementation using the Global Engineering specifications, methodology and practical application of ITIL practices and processes
•Responsible for documenting project requirements, risks, design, test plans, deployment procedures
•Degree/Diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Management Information Systems, MBA or equivalent
•Minimum 5 years of experience in the IT Services industry
•Demonstrates specialist understanding of both server hardware & server operating system deployment, configuration, testing & administration.
•Demonstrates specialist understanding of script debugging & automation principles with prior experience of working in PowerShell, VBScript and associated scripting/mark-up languages (e.g. Batch files, HTML, and XML).
•Experienced troubleshooting to a specialist level within Microsoft Windows Server Network Infrastructures.

Technical background in one or more of the following is considered as advantage:
•Private Cloud and Virtual Private Cloud technologies
•Hypervisor technologies (Hyper-V, VMWare,…)
•Ability to Design, install, configure, optimize and document Windows Server 2003 to Windows Server 2012 environments:
◦File and Print Server Migrations
◦Microsoft Cluster Service (Windows 2003) and Failover Clustering (Windows 2008 and 2012)
◦Active Directory and DNS
•Experience with Backup solutions
•Experience with Storage Solutions
